Thank you YSL. Thank you. Now I know how the other half live. I’m talking about people of average height. Not like me, f-cking short.
I told myself I shouldn’t get them. I mean, how many times will I wear it? But sh*t, whatever, it’s been a crappy summer and I needed a pick- me-up. It sure picked-me-the-f*ck-up. I’m 5.5 inches taller! Holy sh*t! The world actually looks different from up here. And there’s really no need to lose 5lbs. So the plan is to wear these while standing in the kitchen eating Haagen Daaz Mint Chip. Me likey. Me Likey A Lot.

I’ve been depressed. For all sorts of reasons. And I should have known better than to attempt to solve this thorugh retail therapy, but I have been known to ignore the little voice inside my head.
Walking into Chanel was Problem #1. Actually touching Chanel bag was Problem #2. You would think I would stop myself there. No, of course not. I went straight into Problem #3 and handed them my American Express.
So, thinking that I just needed the thrill of the buy, I decided to return it. I mean, $800 for shoes I’ve done. $3,000 for a bag is a whole new ballgame.
After getting delayed by work, by commitments, by…stuff…, I was all set and ready to do the return. I looked at the receipt. 14 days to return. OK…then I looked at the calendar. Um. Sh&t. It’s 15 days. How did this happen? I call the boutique. I call many boutiques. They all say they can only do a store credit. F-ck store credit.
So now, I have a Chanel bag. That I will wear everyday so the cost per wear is 5 cents. I’ll be out on the streets, living in a cardboard box, but I’ll look damn good. Coco would be proud.

It’s been a pretty dull winter, right? Everyone’s afraid of losing their job, losing their apartment, losing their sanity…and even shopping hasn’t been a stress reliever, but rather, a stress inducer. But I had to do SOMETHING to get excited about Spring…so I got me some eyelash extensions. That’s right. I’m NOT winking at you…I just look like I am.
Apparently, this beauty secret’s been around for awhile , especially among the Asian community. Since most Asians have eyelashes that are straight and down,we have the chore of curling and then mascara-ing the hell out of them for them to stay curled. And god help you if it’s humid.
I do have to say, it’s fabulous, this eyelash extension thing. I’m officially hooked.

Times are tough. The market has more swings than a playground and frankly, it’s cramping my style. But one thing’s consistent. J. Crew. I’m not a crazy fanatic about the label, but it sure carries some basic, cute staples that will carry me through the winter and financial doldrums. I’m predicting we’ll see a lot more of its sales due to that fact that December will be awfully slow for them….goody for me…

Why is it so hard to find a practical, all seasons clutch? And why do they cost as much as a bag. I mean, it has a quarter of the materials, labor, doo-dads. I think I’ve resigned myself to the fact that I’ll have to actually invest in a clutch rather than lose years of my life looking for a decent, well-priced one. When the market rebounds, I’ll have my eye on the ultimate classic, the Chanel 2.55, which can double as a handbag as well as a clutch. It’s 2 in 1! A deal. Keep telling myself that, right?
For now, I’m thinking the black w/metallic trim clutch from the French designer group Tila March could be intriguing:

They were gorgeous. Chocolate brown patent leather platform pumps. I could hardly walk in them, but that’s not the point. The point is that the US financial system is on the brink of collapse. People, it’s bad. And $700 billion to save the wooden arrow business ain’t gonna cut it. So the Louboutins went back. *Sigh*.

I’m so over the cold. Really. I just got back from a weekend in Miami. 86 Degrees. Really. Arrived in cashmere and down. By the time I checked into the hotel, I was in Reefs and a tank top. Short shorts. Sandals. Lots of white. It’s Miami, be-atches. One day in, I was tanned and enjoying a mojito.
I strongly suggest a little warm weather getaway, because it’s time for a little spring. A little warm, a little something. I promised myself I wouldn’t shop. But before I left New York for a some sun, I was frantic for flat sandals. And found nothing. I’m just not impressed with the selection out up here yet. But hello, Miami. I checked out the BCBG Max Azaria boutique on Lincoln. Who knew? It’s comfy. It’s light. Rubber soles so it’s more flexible. Wow, I sound so sensible. I tested it out on the beach, on the streets. Thumbs up. And one more thing. It’s NOT Tory Burch; don’t get me wrong, I love the TB line – but I’m tired of seeing the TB emblem on every fake Louis Vuitton bag wearing gal. Done.

Wow. I’ve been completely MIA. Holidays crushed me. The New Year pretty much squashed me. A nasty bug kept me down and out for weeks on end. And I’ve just begun the annual birthday month celebration. That’s right, I said month. Not one day. One day is stressful – compressed. Why put yourself in that predicament? No. If you want to do it right, you give yourself one whole month. So eat, spend, drink all you want; in the 30 days of birthday, it’s 0 calories, 0 bills and healthy liver cells to spare. So, for my comeback post, what do I want to talk about? Well, since it’s pretty buttf*ck Minnesota kind of cold, let’s talk resortwear. Usually, I never purchase any warm weather garb until well into May. Not this year. Holidays weren’t that festive. Sickness laid me up in bed for days, no weeks. Which means, dead social life. Sweaty pajamas. Hairy legs. Time for a little color, girls. J. Crew. Tory Burch. Trina Turk. They’ve stepped up their designs for resort wear 2008 and Spring 2008. There were some lulls; there was concern. Don’t you hate that when the inspiration just isn’t there? They’ve come through. Now, remember, you can take baby steps with the warm weather gear. If you buy a cute cotton vneck, you can layer that underneath a blazer. Cute cotton top? Under a cardigan and a cashmere scarf. Layer is good. Bulky is bad. It’s been depressing ladies; do me a favor and get some color.

Why is it so hard to find a well made cashmere coat for the vertically challenged? What, people don’t think we deserve to wear a well constructed, fitting coat? I’m tired of being linty from wearing my crappy 90% wool, 10% cashmere winter wear. What exactly does 10% do anyway? It still feels like crap, and the wool makes it attract everything except men and money. My search continues; I doubt that I’ll find anything worth buying, but I’ll give it a go. Wish me luck.

If you haven’t heard of mineral makeup by now, you’ve been living under a rock. Whether it’s the infomercials or QVC, Bare Minerals makeup is the hottest selling product in the beauty market. And I don’t get it. It’s messy. The whole swirl, tapping thing is stupid. It takes too long to apply. If you don’t let your moisturizer completely dry, it cakes. So I don’t get it. But I keep reading about how great mineral makeup is, but off I went to Sephora for a refill of my Vincent Longo Water Canvas when I saw the display for Cover FX. Apparently the people up north (da Canucks) have known about this lovely line for quite some time.
I have to say, I’m pretty impressed. Aside from loose mineral foundation, they also carry liquid foundation and a cream foundation. Since the line was designed specifically to cover tatoos and other skin discolorations or conditions, they’re highly pigmented. I grabbed the compact powder mineral foundation which isn’t as messy as the loose version. Nice coverage. Pretty impressed. I may have to bite my tongue about this whole mineral dirt whatever thing.
